What makes a good demo

Yesterday I tried a demo for a small project I’m working on, and it reminded me how hit-or-miss demo versions can be. Sometimes they load quickly and give you a clear idea of how the full version behaves, but other times they lag so much that it’s hard to judge anything. I’m curious what people consider the most important part of a good demo — is it smooth performance, responsive buttons, or having enough functionality to actually test things properly? I’d love to hear how others see it.

For me, a good demo feels stable right from the start. It doesn’t have to be packed with features, but it should load cleanly and respond without weird delays. When I opened https://petelagi.com/ to look at how they structure their preview section, it seemed pretty lightweight and focused, which is usually a good sign. In my own trials, half the issues came from demos trying to do too much at once, which slowed everything down. A simple, responsive layout often shows the real potential better than a cluttered one.

Reading through different threads made me realize I’ve been ignoring the plants on my windowsill again. The soil looks completely dry, and one of the leaves has already curled up on the edges. I keep forgetting to water them during busy weeks, and then I’m surprised when they start looking tired. I should probably take a break later and give them some attention before they fully give up on me.
